WeRide, a leading name in autonomous driving technology, has taken a monumental step forward by launching fully driverless Robotaxi trial operations in Abu Dhabi. Expanded Robotaxi Network

Beginning this quarter, a fleet of WeRide’s Robotaxis will operate on public roads without safety drivers, a bold move toward entirely autonomous public transportation. Over the summer of 2025, the company plans to expand its commercial driverless rides, covering more service areas, including Al Maryah Island and Al Reem Island. This expansion adds to their existing routes across Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, and connections to Zayed International Airport, which have been operational since 2021.

Collaboration and Growth

WeRide has also partnered with Abu Dhabi authorities to advise on the city’s autonomous mobility infrastructure and regulations, making it a key player in shaping the future of transport in the region. Additionally, its collaboration with Uber in December 2024 allowed them to debut the largest commercial Robotaxi service outside the US and China, further solidifying their presence in the global market.
