Safeer Mall in Sharjah, a popular landmark that first opened its doors in 2005, is on track for a complete transformation. Under its new name, Mark & Save Mall, the revamped shopping destination will reopen in 2026, promising an upgraded, modern experience for visitors. This redevelopment comes after nearly two decades of Safeer Mall serving as a hub for shoppers and families in the city.
Owned by Western International Group since January 2025, Safeer Mall’s closure marked the end of an era. However, this was only the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Western International Group, known for managing brands like Geepas, Nesto, and Royalford, has already set new plans in motion to breathe life back into the iconic mall, with an investment exceeding AED 1 billion.
Nawas Basheer KP, the Director of Western International Group, revealed that the mall will undergo extensive renovations rather than a complete demolition. “This isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade; it’s a complete transformation designed to meet modern standards and expectations,” explained Basheer.
The redevelopment includes a significant overhaul of the mall’s interior, exterior, and infrastructure to align with contemporary architectural trends and shopping experiences.
When Mark & Save Mall opens its doors, visitors are in for a treat. The upgraded facility will boast Sharjah’s largest indoor family play area, diverse dining options, a fully-equipped gym, and a retail hypermarket. Western International Group aims to create a well-rounded experience that caters to the needs of today’s families and modern consumers.
A key focus of the project is enhancing customer flow and accessibility. The layout is being redesigned to ensure ease of movement and to offer a seamless shopping experience. According to Basheer, the project will set a new standard for retail destinations in the region.
The transition process includes addressing the concerns of current tenants as the mall undergoes redevelopment. Though the renovations require temporary closures, Western International Group has been working closely with shop owners to comply with government regulations and legal requirements.
The scale of the redevelopment is also expected to bring economic benefits to the community. Hundreds of jobs will be created during construction and after the mall’s completion. These opportunities will span across fields such as hospitality, retail, logistics, and entertainment. “We’re proud to contribute to Sharjah’s economic growth and support the local workforce,” said Basheer.
Strategically located on Etihad Road (E11), a major artery connecting Dubai to Sharjah, the mall enjoys a prime location with high visibility. The roadway sees over 100,000 vehicles daily, making the site an ideal destination for shoppers and commuters alike.
The reopening of Safeer Mall as Mark & Save Mall symbolizes not just a change in name but a complete reimagining of what a local shopping destination can be. It reflects Western International Group’s vision of blending innovation, customer satisfaction, and community growth.
This ambitious project ensures that the legacy of Safeer Mall will continue through a fresh, modern lens, designed to meet the needs of the next generation of shoppers.
